Writers Workshop 2018

We're back!

Thanks for your interest in our Writers Workshop! This workshop is intended to help writers of all ages, at any stage of their writing career, as well as connect local writers with one another to form helpful and lasting connections. (Beta readers and critique partners can be created out of workshop friends!)

What to expect:

Each workshop will consist of a half hour discussion period and an hour of dedicated writing time--so if you're like us and find yourself wanting to write, but needing a quiet space where you can cut yourself off from Twitter for a hot second, we'll provide that! The discussions will be about craft, getting into the meaty how of writing, from worldbuilding to character development to the benefits of outlining. Discussion topics will be provided by the facilitators (that's us!) to help get things started, but discussions can be about anything the writers need help with.

We will be using the book Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell to help with discussion topics. If you would like to purchase a copy of the book from Old Firehouse Books we are happy to extend participants in the workshop a 20% discount

When we meet:

Due to your continued interest, workshops will continue into August! They will take place Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30pm in our back room.

Sessions are free to attend, but space is limited. There will be 10 slots available for each week and will be filled first come, first served. Sign ups are on a weekly basis--if you want to come to the character creation discussion, but would rather skip the one about worldbuilding, you can just sign up for that week. Or if you're feeling ambitious and don't have anything to do on Tuesdays, you can sign up for all of the sessions!

How to participate:

If you'd like to participate in the workshop, you can stop by the store or give us a call at 970-484-7898 to let us know what sessions you'd like to sign up for. We will just need a name and email address.

Registration for each month will open the last week of the prior month (so, registration for August will be open the last week of July--starting on the 22nd).

If you have any questions about the workshop feel free to email events@oldfirehousebooks.com.
