Trade Credit Policy

Trade Credit Hours/Policy

We accept trade:

No trade hours November - December

Monday - Friday 10am - 12 pm

Saturday-Sunday 10am - 4pm

If you drop off books outside of trade hours, they will be recycled and you will not receive credit.

Please don't bring us giant plastic tubs, or a refrigerator box, or seven reusable grocery bags full of books. We just don't have the room to unpack and store them so you can take your tubs and bags home, nor the time and staff to get through all those books in addition to our other store responsibilities.

**Please keep in mind: We are not a donation center.**

Space in our store is very limited. If you have several boxes of old, obscure, dirty books that you don't want, and that we are unlikely to take into the store, please do not bring them in for consideration.

What we offer:

  • In-store credit ONLY
  • Credit can be used on any new or used item

How it Works:

  • You bring your books (no more than 2 boxes that you can carry) during our trade hours
  • We sort through your books and decide what to take based on the criteria below.
  • We make an offer of in-store credit (usually about 20% of the cost of the books)
  • You must stay in the store while your books are evaluated
  • Credit has no expiration date, but you are responsible for the card that has your credit on it. If lost, it will not be replaced.

What we take:

  • Books in gently used condition
  • We prefer paperback over hardcover titles
    • Possible exceptions include:
      • Cookbooks
      • Children’s picture books
      • Classics

We do NOT take:

  • Books in poor conditions:
    • Water damage
    • Torn covers/dust jackets
    • Highlighting/underlining/stains
    • Broken spines
    • Odor, mildew or dirt
  • Ex-library books
  • Advanced reader copies
  • Magazines
  • Most hardcovers
  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks
  • Books that do not reflect our store inventory
  • Books with out-of-date information (travel, current events, etc.)
