Celesta Rimington and Sarah Allen in Conversation!
Old Firehouse Books is delighted to welcome elephant advocate, musical theater performer, and author Celesta Rimington to our virtual event space to celebrate her books, The Elephant's Girl (now out in paperback) and Tips for Magicians! She will be talking writing and kids books with Sarah Allen (Breathing Underwater and What Stars Are Made Of (also now in paperback!)) on Wednesday, September 15th at 6pm MT. The event will be streaming to the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page, and is free.
About Tips for Magicians: After a magical muse seems to have abandoned a small Utah town, it is up to a grieving boy, his best friends, and a stray dog to find out where it has gone and how to bring it back in this lyrical and hopeful story.
About The Elephant's Girl: An elephant never forgets, but Lexington Willow can't remember her past. Swept away by a tornado as a toddler, she was dropped in a nearby Nebraska zoo, where an elephant named Nyah protected her from the storm. With no trace of her family, Lex grew up at the zoo with her foster father, Roger; her best friend, Fisher; and the wind whispering in her ear. Years later, Nyah sends Lex a telepathic image of the woods outside the zoo. Soon, Lex is wrapped up in an adventure involving ghosts, lost treasure, and a puzzle that might be the key to finding her family. Can Lex summon the courage to discover who she really is--and why the tornado brought her here all those years ago?
About Breathing Underwater: Olivia is on the road trip of her dreams, with her trusty camera and her big sister Ruth by her side. Three years ago, before their family moved from California to Tennessee, Olivia and Ruth buried a time capsule on their favorite beach. Now, they’re taking an RV back across the country to uncover the memories they left behind. But Ruth’s depression has been getting worse, so Olivia has created a plan to help her remember how life used to be: a makeshift scavenger hunt across the country, like pirates hunting for treasure, taking pictures and making memories along the way.
About What Stars Are Made Of: From debut author Sarah Allen comes What Stars Are Made Of, a pitch-perfect, heartwarming middle grade novel about growing up, finding yourself, and loving people with everything you’re made of.
Books can be shipped anywhere within the United States (unfortunately, we cannot ship internationally).
