*Coronavirus Update: Good News!*

Since Governor Polis has lifted some of the more strict restrictions on the stay-at-home order, we are updating our policies to take advantage of that! Some things are staying the same, but some things are changing, and we have some good news!

While the store will still be closed to public, and we will still be answering the phones from 10am to 2pm, we are reintroducing CURBSIDE PICKUP and HOME DELIVERY, starting May 1st!

--Curbside hours are: 10am to 2pm. Order and pay for books over the phone or online, let us know when you’re outside, and we’ll bring books to you with no contact. We do ask that if you choose to avail yourself of curbside pickup, please wear a mask. This is for your safety as well as ours.

--We will not be doing same-day delivery. Due to our staffing and the hours that people are available, deliveries will be made on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday between 5 and 9pm to anywhere in the city of Fort Collins (The delivery zone boundaries are: Trilby to the south, I-25 to the east, Overland/Red Fox to the west (exceptions made for Ponds, Westgate, & Burns Ranch developments), and Richard’s Lake/Willox to the north). Orders must be pre-paid either through the website or over the phone.

--ORDERS OF $20 OR MORE WILL STILL GET FREE SHIPPING!! We urge you to still take advantage of our free shipping and continue to stay at home as much as possible, as that is still the safest thing you can do!

For more details on this, here's the full blog post.
(Please click through and read the more detailed home delivery requirements before placing home-delivery orders. Thank you!)

Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media (You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)! Any updates and news will go in the newsletter and on these platforms first, so if you follow us, you'll be the first to know about rescheduled events, returns to normal hours, and any other updates as we work through this crisis.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support!

Donate to Our GoFundMe!

The help you have given us already has certainly made things easier and given us hope for the future. But your copious book orders (and trust us, there are a lot of them) will only keep us going for so long. If you are able to donate, even if it's just a couple of dollars, your generosity will help to cover our rent, pay our vendors, and most importantly, keep our booksellers employed. We can't thank you enough. Your support and generosity are keeping us going, keeping our spirits up,
and will see us through this crisis.

Virtual Store History Tour

Every year, Old Firehouse Books welcomes second grade classes from the local elementary schools into their store to learn about the history of Fort Collins' first firehouse. Due to covid-19, many tours had to be canceled. But you can still learn some history by watching our virtual tour! Find the playlist on YouTube!

A Letter from Fort Collins Reads

Our friends at Fort Collins Reads have put out this letter about this year's event:

During this challenging time, we are thinking of our readers and want to thank each of you for your continued support of Fort Collins Reads. Since 2002, it has been our pleasure to help promote reading, thoughtful discussion, and community engagement for Fort Collins. We have enjoyed developing relevant programming to highlight and enhance the selected book and author every year.

That being said, we are all being challenged in ways that we had not anticipated. This year brings different priorities and perhaps a new reality for our non profit.

  • How long will it be until it is safe to gather 1000 people together?
  • What will the rest of this year bring?
  • Will event planning continue to change, and if so, how will that impact our program?

We have realized that the planning and financial commitment needed to produce our event just isn't feasible during this uncertain time. So, we have come to the difficult decision that we will not be bringing in an author this fall.

Therefore, we are looking into a creative way to stay involved with you, our readers, this year. This will involve some type of remote format, complete with a touch of community involvement. We'll stay in touch as those plans unfold. We are working on an updated option to our traditional format. In the meanwhile, we hope you keep reading wonderful books.  Remember that Old Firehouse Books, our local independent bookstore, is one of our partners, and is taking orders.

Again, we value all of our community supporters and plan on staying connected in a responsible and inventive way.

Follow us on social media or sign up for our email list on our website for updates. Thank you for understanding.
