Summer Writing Workshop

Thanks for your interest in our first ever Writer's Workshop! This workshop is intended to help writers of all ages, at any stage of their writing career, as well as connect local writers with one another to form helpful and lasting connections.

The program runs from June to mid-August (full schedule below) with meetings being held every other week on Tuesday at 6pm (with one exception for July 4th). Throughout the summer, we will be referencing Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer by Roy Peter Clark, as well as two other texts specific to our discussion topics. Each of these texts will be available for purchase at Old Firehouse Books at a 20% discount for workshop participants.

We will be focusing on three topics this summer: writing practices and habits, creating plot, and character creation/development. We have 4 fantastic guest authors that will be speaking over the summer on each of these topics. If you plan to attend any of the author talks, we are asking for a $5 dollar suggested donation that will go straight to the author for their time and efforts.

If you'd like to participate in the workshop, please send an email to giving your name, age (optional), and what kind of writer you are (fiction, poetry, beginning writer, spare-moments-writer, etc.). We will add you to our email list and send you any updates about the workshop.
